Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic Cells

Eukaryotic cells contain genetic material contained in a nucleus that is seperated from the rest of the cell.
Prokaryotic cells have genetic material, but is not contained in a nucleus.(pg.172 in Biology Textbook)

Eukaryotes:

-larger
-more complex
-includes plants, animals, fungi, and protists
-has nucleus

Prokaryotes:

-smaller
-simpler
-includes archaebacteria and eubacteria
-no nucleus

Both:

-have genetic material
-carry out every activity associated with living things
-contain ribosomes
-contain cell membrane

***Some scientists believe that prokaryotic ancestors of certain organelles(such as mitochondria and cholorplasts), formed a symbiotic relationship with early eukaryotes, and that is how these organelles formed in the eukaryotic cells.(pg. 180 in Biology Textbook)
